On the Edge of ’17

This marks the eleventh consecutive year for CBIZ CMF publishing our annual predictions on the economy, socio-political issues, and industry trends. See how the actuals compared with the 2017 predictions (made in December 2016) here.

Highlights from last year’s predictions that we accurately forecasted include:

  • Increased cord-cutting by household of their cable provider
  • Increased number of IPOs
  • Average WTI Crude Oil Price per Barrel of $49

Our 2018 predictions include, an all-Pennsylvania Super Bowl (Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Philadelphia Eagles), increased number of closed deals, and a record number of women having seats in Congress.

Other key predictions include:

  • U.S. GDP growing to 3.0%
  • U.S Unemployment decreasing to 3.90% and Labor Participation Rate increasing to 63.3%
  • Amazon picking Austin, TX as home of second headquarters
